Keeping things in perspective

Before my last final earlier this week, my professor put everything into perspective for the anxious seminarians by saying, "Let us be thankful that we're not pulling loved ones out of the rumble today [in China]. We have the opportunity to take a test." May God have mercy on those grieving.

Remembering that makes me more thankful to have this cold even though I have beach plans for the day. As I tote my box of Kleenexes onto the sand, I can be thankful for many things.

This is my 100th post. ;-)

Happy Sigh

God willing, I'll be in Kampala, Uganda for two weeks in August. Last night, Arnold attempted to satiate my desire to bring an orphan home by suggesting that I could spend more time with the children in the orphanage when the rest of the crew continues to build the house because I'd still be serving the community. Eric got nervous and said, "See, you'd think that would help quell her but it probably won't..." ;-)

In other news, everything is going very well. I enjoy comparing my present situation with my experiences in May 2006 when I was graduating from Drew U. It's pretty much the complete opposite; let's just say, I'm not looking naively into the abyss of the future with an unreciprocated relationship [are you reading into that yet, Amie?]. Thankfully, I have been able to maintain and build new friendships since then and from the perspective of this plateau, I'm thankful for my experiences.

So in the past month since I've posted, I've spent a weekend in Fort Worth, Texas to sing at the United Methodist General Conference that meets every four years. That's probably the most exciting thing I've done. I'm passing my classes. Finishing up finals (ask me anything about church history since the reformation). Heading to camp at the end of next week. Then Uganda. Happy sigh.
